Das Europäische Parlament - Rolle und Funktion am Beispiel ausgewählter Politikbereiche

Die politischen Bildungsprogramme im Europäischen Parlament während der Sitzungswochen in Straßburg geben den TeilnehmerInnen einen Einblick in das Tagesgeschehen des Europäischen Parlaments sowie die Gelegenheit mit Abgeordneten über aktuelle europapolitische Themen zu diskutieren und die Plenarsitzungen vor Ort zu verfolgen. Die Rolle des Europäischen Parlaments im Gefüge der Europäischen Institutionen und die Bedeutung europäischer Politik auf nationaler, regionaler und lokaler Ebene werden erläutert.

The role of European Trade Union cooperation in the current economic and social crisis

Wheras the economy develops across boarders and ever faster on a global scale and multinationals use differences in the regualtory systems to the detriment of workers, trade unions still need to strengthen European cooperation, networking across boards and transnational solidarity to keep step with these developments. In the current economic crisis where protectionism and national egoism tend to serve as shortsighted remedy European trade union cooperation is important more than everto strengthen transnational codedetermination, collective bargaining and workers rights in general. National trade unions needto know the strucutres, actors and ways for influencing in a coordinated transnational matter European decisions making processes.

Social Dialogue on European level and the role of trade unions in the EU accession process
13. - 17.09.2010, EU information seminar for trade union experts from Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia
This seminar is part of a training cycle coordinated by the FES Regional Project of Labour Relations and Social Dialogue in South-Eastern Europe (based in Belgrade). Following an introductory seminar on EU law and EU’s social dimension, the Brussels’ seminar aims at providing the participants with first-hand information and concrete insights into the work of the EU institutions as well as lectures and debates with decision makers and policy experts from the EU institutions, trade union and NGO representatives on EU level. The delegation will also participate in the Annual European Trade Union Panel "Europe 2020 – A New Strategy for Europe?" (see below). This training cycle intends to foster the EU competence of the trade unions in the Western Balkans and to improve their participation in the trade unions’ struggle for a social Europe.
